The stones, sometimes referred to as “American Stonehenge,” are believed by many to be satanic in origin. Many of the trends called for in the Guidestones’ writings have been criticized, especially its call for the world population to be kept at 500 million or below.
An explosive device went off around 4 a.m. near the Georgia Guidestones, a site about 7 miles north of Elberton, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office apparently responded to the scene to discover a large portion of the monument was obliterated.
