Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has made it "easier" for illegal immigrants who commit crimes to stay in United States, Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green said Thursday during the panel's second impeachment inquiry hearing on Mayorkas.
"Despite his supposed pledge to remove threats to public safety, [Immigrations Customs Enforcement] is arresting fewer criminal aliens than previous administrations," Green said at the hearing.
During the COVID pandemic, 90% of ICE's "administrative arrests were of criminal aliens." Last fiscal year, Green said it was only 43%.
"As a result, no American is safe," he said.
