Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake beat out several fellow Republicans in a Conservative Action Political Conference straw poll for the party’s vice presidential nod.
Lake topped the list of nearly 30 GOP contenders with 20% of the vote, besting former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL).

In reaction to the news, Lake’s campaign tweeted gratitude for the support but said she would be unable to serve.
“We’re flattered, but unfortunately our legal team says the Constitution won’t allow for her to serve as Governor and VP at the same time,” Lake’s campaign noted.
