Democratic Senate Intelligence Committee chair expresses concerns over Biden campaign on TikTok

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner, D-Va., expressed concerns about the Biden campaign's decision to join TikTok, which is owned by the China-based technology company ByteDance.

President Joe Biden's campaign posted its first TikTok video on Sunday despite repeated warnings from federal officials about potential security issues presented by the video platform.

"I think at the end of the day, the Chinese Communist Party can not only get access to the data, but also, more importantly, can potentially drive the algorithms in terms of what you’re seeing," Warner said, The Hill reported Tuesday.

"I think that we still need to find a way to follow India, which has prohibited TikTok," he also said, per Reuters. "I'm a little worried about a mixed message."
